Below you will find answers to many common questions about 2019 Give Green, Be Gold.
Why does Wayne State have a Giving Day?
Since it was founded in 1868, Wayne State has been an institute of opportunity. Giving Day connects the entire Wayne State community — on campus, in Detroit and around the world — during this 24-hour period of school spirit and generosity.
The concept of 24-hour campaigns is common in higher education, and can contribute substantially to an institute's overall fundraising success.
How can I participate?
On April 11, you can join forces with fellow Warriors to help fund the area of the university that means the most to you. Your Giving Day donation has an even bigger impact than usual thanks to matching fund challenges, made possible through the generosity of key university supporters.
You can also help by sharing Giving Day updates on social media. Use #GiveGreenBeGold and #WSUGivingDay to help spread the word and build excitement.
Can I support a specific school or program?
Yes! Every gift to every area of Wayne State University is counted toward the Giving Day total.
Is my gift to WSU tax-deductible?
Yes! On Giving Day and throughout the rest of the year, all gifts made to Wayne State University are tax-deductible.
As a WSU employee, does my ongoing payroll deduction count toward Giving Day?
New payroll deductions submitted on Giving Day will count toward the April 11 total, but current payroll deductions do not. This is a great time to make the decision to regularly support the university that already benefits from your time and talent. To sign up for payroll deduction on Giving Day, simply fill out the form on April 11.
