Strategies and Tools for Overdose Prevention (STOP) is a harm reduction initiative of the Center for Urban Studies. STOP aims to stop overdose deaths in Southeast Michigan by conducting research, delivering training, and distributing Narcan overdose-reversal medication to community members. As the number of overdoses caused by heroin and other opioids continue to rise, along with the increased use of more potent opioids that carry higher risk, championing data-driven strategies to prevent and respond to overdose is critical. The STOP team mobilizes 38 AmeriCorps service members each year to deliver Overdose Rescue training to community members in Southeast Michigan, preparing them to act quickly and correctly during an overdose emergency to help save lives. This critical work is made possible by the support of many partners and generous funders, including individual donations from community members like you. Every $50 donation helps us distribute another Overdose Rescue Kit with lifesaving Narcan.
